Nature Republic Stain Girl's Tint

Hi. One of my favorite "make-up item" to collect are lip and cheek tints or stains. They're multipurpose and I'm not used to lugging around to many items on my kit, so we get along. =) I have a couple of stains and tints in my collection, and I recently bought another one.

I was looking for a tint with a pink shade since most of what I own are peach-ish and red shades. I had my eyes set on this Nature Republic Stain Girl's Tint for quite a while and decided to go on with the purchase.

(The name is puzzling to me though)

Priced at 220 but if you have their card, 198
Available in 3 shades. Mine is #2 which is pink. #1 is red and #3 is red orange

Pros:
1. It's slightly more watery that the other tints I've tried. It's a pro because it gives me more time to actually blend it out before it dries.
2. Lasts long
3. Works well as cheek tint. Gives off a natural color
4. Didn't sting or anything
5. No funny taste

Cons:
1. I don't like the smell. It actually reminded my sister (whose lips are above) of a cherry flavored cough syrup which I hate.
2. Although the container looks very stylish, it feels a bit brittle and fragile that I'm scared to drop it.
3. Tends to stain your fingers more than your lips or cheeks
4. A bit pricey
5. If you have dry lips, it has the tendency to sit on the lines of your lips

Despite the cons, I like this tint, except for the smell. It gives the lips a natural pink shade and you can actually build up the color if you want more of an intense pink color.

Any fave tints? Lemme know! Happy weekend. Cheerio!

Certified Movie Buff: Sydney White aka Sydney White and the Seven Dorks

Hi. I think I've told you how much I'm a sucker for "spin-off" movies of Disney fairy tales. Sydney White is also one of my favorite fairy tale-ish movies.

It's a 2007 film starring Nickelodeon alumnus Amanda Bynes.

FROM GOOGLE IMAGES
Amanda plays the dorky-ish tomboy-ish Sydney White, a college freshman, who in the midst of taking in college on a scholarship program, finds herself being good friends with the seven "outcasts or dorks" of Vortex, after being kicked out of her mother's college "house."

Not only is she determined to save Vortex from becoming non-existent, but she is also driven to put the entire Greek system into its proper place.

It's an interesting play on the typical Snow White story, with an amazing cast to boot. Sarah Paxton is the very teeth-gritting character Rachel Witchburn and Matt Long plays the "charming" Tyler Prince.

I think there really isn't a lot of modern movies that are made in such a way that they're not too patterned after the fairy tales. Cinderella, being the most common, mostly have spin-off movies that have become entirely predictable. I haven't seen a lot of Snow White inspired modern chick flicks, and I think Sydney White is a good version. Sydney isn't too feminine (being raised by mostly men), which made her such an interesting Snow White. The humor of the film sufficed for Sydney's lack of damsel-in-distress scenes, which is actually really good.

This is a must-watch for those who love chick flicks. I catch in on HBO sometimes, or you could always just rent it out. =)

Cheerio!

Just Sampling: Etude House Fresh Cherry Tint in Pink

Hi guys. Lately, I haven't been sampling a lot of products. I've been put into a couple of weeks of a bit of a skin therapy by my mom (so no much makeup) because I've developed some rashes from who-knows-where. So, Cetaphil is my best friend nowadays.

My sister gave me this to sample instead. She bought this from online seller Cheeky Posh who sells a lot of Korean cosmetic samples for those who, you know, just wanna try out some products first before buying the full size. I have this in peach (reviewed here).

This has actually two pieces for (my sister's not sure) 20 or 25 pesos. The other one was red, which was very red. A pack is bound to last for about 5 days.

 The Verdict:
It's not so different from my peach one. The milky consistency is the same. It's long lasting and easy to apply. You wouldn't have a hard time making sure it's evenly distributed because  it doesn't stick on your lips fast.

It gives off a light pink color when you put on a little but it can also give you a gorgeous deep rose shade if you put on about two layers. It can last the whole day, and that's against chips and drinks too.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it stings a little the first time you apply it. I still don't know why. And, I got to try the red sample and decided to transfer it on a container. It still had one good use which went to waste because it dried up. I don't know what happened but if you will buy this in sample packets, might as well keep it in the packet.

I love my peach one a lot but I'm willing to give this one in full size a whirl.

Happy weekend guys. Cheerio!

All Dolled Up: Look #1 Red

Hi guys. I know I've never posted "look of the day" entries. One because I don't and can't take pictures of myself. I think I'm incapable of doing selcas. Another reason is my makeup rarely screams picture-worthy.

Anyways, I finally got permission from my sister to "borrow" her picture. I put makeup on her when she asks me to, and that's usually when she decides to flood her Instagram account or resuscitate her blog, and a few events here and there.

MEET MY KOREAN SISTER. NAH. =) KOREAN AT HEART

I mentioned on my previous entry here that she was the first one who got to really use my new palette. When she requested for red lips and winged liner to go with her floral-dress-denim-jacket-my-rubber-shoes combo, I was like "Ei?" I was scared she'd end up looking too made up. But, I remembered the look we did for the "Like A Virgin" girls for our Glee Musical in college. Same concept, but I toned it down a bit more. Here's a list of items I used on my sister. =)

For the Face:
1. Lovely ME:EX BB Cream (reviewed here)
2. 4u2 dreamGirl Lovelight BB Powder (reviewed here)
3. Careline Concealer in Oriental (my sister's)

For the Eyes and Brows:
1. For the brows, I used the dark brown color from my Wet N' Wild Belgian Chocolates Trio (reviewed here)
2. The eye makeup are all from my ADS palette (reviewed here)
* Cream color all over the lids
* Light taupe color for the crease
* White for the inner corners of the eyes and brow bone
* Black for the "soft-winged liner" and lower lashline
3. E.L.F Eyelid Primer (reviewed here)
4. Careline Color Pencil in Black for tight lining (reviewed here)

For the Cheeks:
1. My sister already has very prominent? cheek bones but I still did a little contouring with my Wet N' Wild Bronzer (reviewed here). No cheek color. =)

For the Lips:
1. For her Taylor Swift-red lips, I mixed my Maybelline Summer Sunset Lipstick (reviewed here), which has a deep ruby red color, with my sister's Avon Simply Pretty Lipstick in Celebrity Red, which is a more vibrant crimson red color.
2. I then asked her to put her Fashion 21 Grapes Clear Lip gloss only on the center of her lips. =)

Should I do more of this or nah? Lemme know! Cheerio!

ADS Magic Make-up Kit New Fashion

Hi! I just wanted to share with you guys this make-up kit that was given to me by my aunt. She also gave me the Shiny Powders that I reviewed here

This was completely given to me out of the blue. It just so happened that my aunt talked about this kit that she has used once, and my mom well, shared that I liked make-up, so she asked if I would like to have it. Of course, I said yes. This was sent to her by her sister from Dubai, I think.

I've heard about ADS. I also have a mini palette from the same brand given to me by my classmates when we had a major Glee Musical production in college. It was from Divisoria. But before you start freaking out, don't worry. Almost all of us used the palette, and no one had a negative reaction. I guess not all buys there are completely, you know, dangerous.

I've used the eye shadows on these as well, and my eyes are doing fine. =)

So, here's my take on the ADS Magic Make-up Kit New Fashion

There are 66 eye shadows, 4 blushers, 8 lip colors, 2 foundations, 2 highlighters, a sponge, a sponge tip applicator with a lip brush, and a blush brush. It also has a mirror on the upper part

    The Verdict:

This is my biggest palette yet, so I was giddy when I got this. The qualities of the eye shadow vary. Some are not so pigmented, the others are crazy pigmented. A few were powdery, but everything was workable.
The only thing I don't like about the shadows and blusher is that they all have shimmer and the shadows, some have similar color pay-offs.

The blushers are way pigmented so a little goes a long way. I can't say much about the lip colors because I really haven't tried them. But the staying power of everything probably is pretty much just like you're average eye shadow or blusher.

As for the foundation and the probably-are highlighters, I haven't used them, and I doubt that I can because they're pretty light. But when I do decide to try them out, I'll give you an update.

Overall, I love playing with this palette. The varied colors allow me to experiment on really out there looks and the natural looks. I'm still asking for my sister's permission to post her picture where I used this palette on her. =)

    Anyways, happy weekend guys! Cheerio!

Certified Movie Buff: 13 Going On 30

Hi! I'm having a chick-flick moment here. I was planning to do an entry on Sydney White, but since I let my sister pick the movie to feature this time, I had to go with 13 Going On 30.  Well, I love this movie just as much.

It's a 2004 film starring Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. =)

    FROM WIKIPEDIA.ORG
So, Jennifer Garner plays the "30" year old version of Jenna Rink, a 13-year old, who after a birthday-love mishap dusted with the strong dream of growing up too fast, woke up one day as an adult with a whole life still ahead of her.

It's a cute movie about finding out that the grown-up world isn't much different and isn't as fun as we all thought it would be. Jenna had to find that out for herself as she realized that she has lost practically everything by having everything she wanted. A weird concept, but that's how the movie actually is.

And, I love the song from its OST, Vienna by Billy Joel. A mainstay on my playlist.

Do check this movie out from your local rental and video stores! =) Cheerio!

    E.L.F Professional Blending Eye Brush

Hi. I can't believe another weekend-day is coming to an end. I always feel like weekdays are way too long. =)

Anyway, I haven't had the time to take pictures of anything until today, so here's my promised review on the E.L.F Professional Blending Eye Brush.

When I found out what this was used for, I started researching about the possible options. It came down to the Charm one and this one. Well, being me, I opted to try this one out first. =)

    * Sorry about the different backgrounds. My sister was looking for the "right" light.=)

    Pros:
    1. Affordable at 129.75
    2. It's soft but not too soft so it's actually good for blending
    3. Picks up product nicely
    4. Didn't bleed when I washed it

    Con:
    1. I know I've said this on my first impression when I bought it. It SHEDS LIKE CRAZY. I thought it was gonna lose every strand! It has lost about 30 of its hair, haha. And it still goes on if I'm not extra careful. I feel like my brush is sick or something.

I like this blending brush because it gets the job done, except from the fact that I think it will soon go bald. So, I think I'll try the Charm one as well, when I can.

Anyways, any suggestions for a good blending brush? Lemme know and have a great weekend! =) Cheerio!

P.S. Any of you checking out To the Beautiful You? Choi Minho's scream on Episode 7 sent me laughing off my seat. =)

Certified Movie Buff: Never Been Kissed

Hi guys. It started raining again. I just hate how gloomy it feels when it rains. Anyway, I just wanted to share with you guys this awesome chick film that my sister and I tirelessly watch. It's so good that I don't actually mind watching it over and over again. It's Drew Barrymore's 1999 film Never Been Kissed.

    FROM GOOGLE IMAGES

Drew plays the role of Josie Geller, a dedicated but stuck-in-the-office journalist for Chicago Sun Times. When the opportunity to go undercover and find a story in a local high school presents itself, Josie goes for it-finding herself, love, a good story, and her first kiss in the process.

It's such a good movie, at least for me. Josie is the perfect example of a girl who took it all in in high school and someone who wants to get a second chance to stand out or fit in, only to find out that who you were back then is perfect and that some things, no matter how long, just never change.

It's a fun movie to watch. Funny and witty, plus won't you want to see Drew donning this animal-abusive outfit paired with a frosted lip?

    FROM GOOGLE IMAGES

I'm planning to watch this again. =) And if you want to check it out too, rental stores and video stores have this for sale.

It's one of the best chick films I've watched.

    Cheerio!

Alba Botanica Natural AcneDote Face and Body Scrub and Deep Clean Astringent

Hi guys. Today, I decided that I should share with you my new trusted skin treatment. I have been using these for about two months, and I find the Alba Botanica Acnedote line very effective, at least for me.

I have been suffering from skin asthma since 6th grade, a little after my bronchial asthma quieted down. I've been using a lot of skin care products since then. Some worked and most didn't. The most effective one I have tried costs a lot that it would take a big chunk of my paycheck. My quest to find a new effective best friend led me to Healthy Options and to this set.

Some say not to put a price tag on skin care, but when you can, why not? =)

    Each costs 359 Php
    Active Ingredient is Salicylic Acid

    The Verdict:

I've been using the astringent for more than two months. It still has about two good enough uses before it runs completely empty. It dries out pimples and the sort for about two days. You'd witness a slight peeling after a couple of days use but not much that you'd end up looking like a tomato. But I do stop usage for about a week when I start peeling. Just to be sure. I could say that it prevents major breakouts but it dries out the skin too much. Major downfall for me is the big opening of the bottle. I've spilled it every once in a while. Wish it had a stopper of some sort. It lightens scars too.

As for the face and body scrub, I love it. I love that it feels like it has too much "scrubbish" particles. I love its woody scent. It leaves a cool feeling after you have washed it off and I've noticed that it tightens the pores. The line also has a facial wash, but I felt that this was worth my money more and I was right. I purchased this a month after using the astringent so I could differentiate the effects.

All in all, I think this is a must try line if you have problematic skin like me. It's organic and definitely worth every penny. I'm planning to try more of Healthy Options' skin care someday soon.

Have you tried any of their products? Lemme know. Cheerio!
