November 2013 Hit Listers

Hi guys! This list is coming in pretty late. I'll just keep it short though since it's already a little late. ^^
 1. Dear My BB Cream
-This one is actually pretty old and is my sister's. I just gave it a try since she wasn't using it anymore. It's actually a good BB cream. Probably one of the best I've tried.

2. iWhite Korea Aqua Moisturizing Cream
-This was recommended to me by my friend and I ended up liking it. A lot. It's a cream-type moisturizer that turns watery upon application.

3. Watsons Green Tea Purifying Gel
-I've been looking for a good spot pimple corrector and decided to try this one. It takes a while to work but it does work and it's non-sticky so applying it throughout the day is no trouble.

4. Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti
-I bought this for my sister a while back. It was on sale I think. i just tried it once then end up borrowing it a lot often since I really liked the color payoff. I thought it was gonna be too glossy and balm-y but it wasn't so it was pretty good.

5. Cream Bath Wash from Daiso
-I bought this since I wanted a good wash for my brushes. Using hair shampoo is quite wasteful so I figured I'd try this since it's so big. It actually does the cleaning pretty well. And it's such a huge bottle to boot.

6. Bobo Tiny Pots from Landmark
-I keep a couple of pots like these in hand just in case I open up samples or need to mix up a couple of colors, like with blushes and stuff. These ones are actually pretty cool because the designs are simply adorable. Such a great find I think.
 7. Neutrogena Deep Clean Brightening Mulberry Ultra Foam Cleanser
-I've been meaning to try this for the longest time but had to wait because I still had a tube of facial wash. I'm actually glad I tried this. It makes the skin feel so soft and it smells so good.

 8. Tony Moly Silky Glaze Fruit Hair Spray
- Definitely the best hair spray I've ever tried. I'm used to the ones that make your hair stiff and wire-like and most of them smell, well, bad. This is just plain awesome because you can hardly tell that you have it on. It smells great and your hair won't be so wire-like.

9. Pony (Park Hye Min)

- One of my current favorite Korean make up artists. She looks so cute and her tutorials are very easy to follow. I also like how she uses a diverse set of items. She's just adorable and you should really check out her videos. Check one of them here.

koreandrama,org
10. King 2 Hearts
-Aside from The Heirs, I'm actually not watching any new dramas but one of the recent ones I've rewatched is King 2 Hearts. I love Ha Ji Won and I think playing a bad-ass role suits her best and being a North Korean soldier is definitely up her alley. Playing opposite her is Lee Seung-gi as a South Korean "prince." It's a pretty great drama to watch since you get to witness such a funny love story unfolding.

And that's it! Hope you had a great weekend. Cheerio!

Certified Movie Buff: Hello Stranger

Hi! This'll be just a short movie entry, I promise. ^^ This film was actually a recommendation from a good friend of mine. I've actually seen the CD of this in some CD shops but I never did think about buying it. But since I've heard that it's actually a good film, I decided to find myself a copy.

listal.com
Hello Stranger is a 2010 Thai film that's mostly about being in that blurred line between a rom-com movie and reality. That, and happenstance. It's basically a story about a girl and a guy who met by chance in South Korea while on vacation. They were there for different reasons and somehow along the way when they met, they just found comfort with each other. Then of course, life has to be the pain in the ass, and reality just caught up with them, waking them up from what was seemingly a love story on water. In the end, it was just a matter of knowing whether or not you give into fate or if you'd create it. :P

I don't wanna spoil much about the movie but I will tell you that it was really fun to watch. The kind of film that just makes you want to hang on until the last minute, wondering how everything would end.

Have you guys seen this movie? How'd you find it? Lemme know. Cheerio!

I Nailed It #20 With Love, Mickey

Hey guys! I apologize for not being able to update this blog as much as I want to. Aside from my wallet walking out on me after a terrible fight about me spending too much money on makeup (shout out to a good friend for this clever excuse), I almost always get too tired when I get home.

Anyway, I know I owe you guys last month's hit listers. I'd probably get the time to take the pictures this weekend so the post will most probably be up next week. I'll try my best to do it. Also, my blog post drafts are piling up so I'll make sure to check that out and see the stuff I missed out on posting.

I used a white polish from Bobbie, a shimmery black polish also from Bobbie, OMG in Salsa for that strong red color, and OMG Citrine for the sand polish. I replaced the color of the nail of my ring finger with Etude House's Strawberry Milk so that the glitter polish would show more.

I've been looking for hologram? holographic? foils since I saw them on Kstyle. Fortunately, I was able to see some in the recent Noel Bazaar in WTC.  I only bought 2 rolls though. I should have bought more. I probably wasn't in my right mind.

They are actually pretty easy to use. Just make sure that your base color is all dried up because you don't want it to be sticky and mess up your foil design. Dab on some nail glue (a plain polish works just as well, at least based on my attempt). It can be as random as you would like or it could be neat so that the design would show well.

Here's what happened with my first attempt. ^^ I glued on some nail gems to form the famous Mickey head. I got this nail gem wheel from Trinoma by the way.

I topped the black polish with Caress' Christmas Polka...

Then I drew on an attempt on Mickey's pants? shorts? on the red nail...

Okay, this has got to be my favorite nail. It could be because I was so stoked to find one of the shades of the limited edition Disney's Mickey and Minnie Mouse x Etude House polishes. I found this at the bazaar too. ^^ I was so happy because according to some sites I've read, this was only released in Korea.

And this is what happens to the nails of a Mickey Mouse fan. ^^

Hope you find this attempt on nail art helpful, in any way. ^^ Cheerio!

Majolica Majorca Lash and Brow Colorist in BR333

Hey guys! In a few hours, my only-weekend-day the weekend will be finally over. Again. Like most people, I do find Mondays quite dreadful. Anyhow.

My mom has become a huge fan of colored brow mascaras because she finds them a lot easier to put on and work with compared with brow pencils and brow powders. Her first brow mascara was the Color My Brow of Etude House. Unfortunately, that dried up before I could do a review. This one is her current brow mascara. I actually use this occasionally when my brows decide to stray on their own.^^

This is my sister's brow by the way. I figured you'd see the color better since she has less brow hair whereas I inherited mine from Brooke Shields. Kidding. The first photo is how I usually wear the mascara. Just a hint of color. The second pic is just for swatch color since I actually put on too much so that you could see how the color looks on actual brows an actual brow.

Pros:
1. Stays on the whole day
2. Perfect for someone with light colored hair (so long it doesn't have a reddish tint^^)
3. Very pretty packaging. It almost looks regal. ^^

Cons:
1. Quite expensive for a brow mascara. A tube retails for 595.00 Php
2. Limited color choices. I think there are only two shades. This one and the dark brown one.

So-so:
The consistency upon first use is a little watered down, so it is a lot thinner compared to other mascaras. That is actually a good thing for me since I find most brow mascaras a little thick for my liking. But I have observed that it seems to be thickening now, probably because of air exposure. It is still a bit far from drying up though.

I've actually tried it on the lashes, too. It actually works just as well as an ordinary mascara but the color is probably a little to light to be used for the lashes.

Have you tried this much-raved about lash and brow mascara? What did you think about it? Lemme know. Cheerio!

Yadah Lip Crayon Pencil in Lovely Pink 02

Hi! I've been seeing a lot of lip crayons lately from various brands. Unlike lipsticks, I find lip crayons a lot cooler and easier to use. Probably because most I've seen and tried are like a mix of lip stain, lip balm, and lipstick making it very useful and usable for every day.

While browsing The Beauty Bar's website, I saw the Korean brand Yadah. It was my first time to hear about the brand but they already have a few items that I think are worth trying. Even better is that they're not very expensive.

I was most curious about this lip crayon. Each retails for 195.00 Php. This lip crayon is the sharpen-me type and not the retractable type. There were 3 other colors when I bought mine. I'm not sure though how many there really are.

Pros:
1. Very pigmented. The picture above is just a layer of the lip crayon
2. Glides on smoothly and easily
3. The color is a lovely pink. It actually looks like it's a little muted shade of hot pink if that makes sense
4. Compared to other lip crayons I've seen, this one is pretty affordable
5. Paraben-free and no funny scents
6. Stains a little

Cons:
1. I would have loved this more if it were the retractable type since it'd be much easier to use. (On the other hand, I'm getting more product with this one because retractable ones almost always have the product half the size of its container)
2. Makes chapped lips visible. (Can you see my lip flaking? ^^)
3. A little bit drying on the lips

I would love to have this in all the other colors like the red and orange one. ^^ It's a fun lippie to use and it can even work as a blusher and eye shadow (tried it ^^).

Do check out Yadah if ever you find yourself looking around The Beauty Bar.

Cheerio! Have a nice week. ^^

Certified Movie Buff: Quick

Hey guys! I'm currently borrowing this laptop so no reviews for now because all my pics are in the other computer.

So, I am giving you another movie entry. ^^ This movie is a 2011 Korean action film starring Lee Min-ki and Kang Ye-won.

en.wikipedia.org

This movie is about used-to-be-bad-boy-biker-turned-delivery boy Ki-su who finds himself following a stranger's phone calls to deliver mysterious packages that turn out to be bombs or else suffer the consequences, which actually equate to the rigged wristwatch and helmet. As if that wasn't bad enough, his current "package to deliver" is his ex-girlfriend, Ahrom, who was dragged into probably the most dangerous bike ride ever.

It was a pretty interesting movie. It actually reminded me of Shia LaBeouf's movie Eagle Eye. I would say though that the pacing of the movie/plot during the first minutes of the film was kind of slow and the build up was not as seamless as it could be but when the problem started to present itself to the main characters, the flow of the movie eventually became much better.

This is available for rent at your local rental video shops but their copies are already dubbed. If you'd get the chance to find the subtitled version, I'd suggest that you watch that once since there are a lot of dialogues that would really sound much better in Korean.

Cheerio!

Certified Movie Buff: Doll Master

Hi guys! Can I tell you a little secret? I'm probably (at least I think I am) a bad person to go see movies with *haha*. I'm not a spoiler or anything but I do tend to react differently against the genre a movie is supposed to be. Say, I laugh at dramatic movies at times. It doesn't happen often but it has been known to happen. ^^

And, since I'll be talking about a horror film...please know that I actually scream before  something even happens. That's so I can actually prevent getting thrown of my chair or falling of my bed out of fright. ^^ It's a prepping thing.

Anyway, I mentioned a while back that I've been having a subtitled-movies phase lately and this was one of the movies I've watched. Out of all movie genres, horror is probably my least liked but when I do get the chance to watch horror films, I go for Korean and Filipino ones.

en.wikipedia.org
I was telling my sister to think a lot about renting this out since I am a scaredy cat and the CD cover just scared the daylights out of me. But because she heard that this was a good film, I kinda gave in and braced my self for yet another sleepless night.

Doll Master is a 2004 Korean horror flick that basically tells the story of, well, a doll master during the Japanese period who created a doll that he based or was inspired by a woman in a red kimono who he fell in love with. Then stuff happened (I don't want to spoil the movie for you! ^^) and the red kimono lady doll had to seek revenge which actually extended to the present time. This is how five complete strangers ended up stuck in a doll museum, trying to figure out the secret of the "new" doll master while struggling to save their lives.

The movie was nicely made and the plot definitely had gripping parts. I would say that this film made me a little more scared of porcelain dolls. Ever since my friend edited our highschool horror film with porcelain dolls cuts, I was already a little jittery seeing one and now this film.

It definitely wasn't as gory as I thought it would be. It did have parts where you'd want to cover up your eyes. But I've seen gory-gory-gory horror flicks and this is probably just 4/10 gory compared to all those others.

Have you seen this flick? Did it give you a fright? Lemme know. Cheerio!

October 2013 Hit Listers

Hello! I'm a little behind with my hit listers. In fact, I think I'm so behind it that my sister even had to remind me. ^^ Anyway, during the month of October, I was able to try a few new items and a couple of stuff I've left untested until much later. Of course, there's still a K-drama on the list, which I think is going to be a mainstay in my hit listers unless the Korean network channels end up with shows that I wouldn't like. ^^ But I don't think that's gonna happen. Like, ever. ^^

Anyway, here's the list and maybe you can find something that you like. ^^

asianwiki.com

1. Heirs/The Inheritors/Heirs: He Who Wears the Crown Must Bear Its Weight

-I think the original title is the last one (then again, there are a couple of more versions online) but I think Heirs is what it is more commonly known for. I was really excited for Heirs, I mean it was sad for me to see Master's Sun end. But come on, this has Lee Min Hot Ho, so it was a sure-watch on my list. I was pretty excited to see Park Shin Hye and Lee Min Ho pair up but I was a little worried about the show at first since there were rumors that it was just another Boys Over Flowers. I love BOF, but it would be nice to see a different tone in a high-school show. After watching the episodes, I'd say that this drama definitely has a different feel to it. Only 8 episodes has aired but I'm liking how the story is forming. I love that I'm tuning into it not because I can stand it but because I'm actually looking forward to what's gonna happen next.

2. Dear Girls Vitcara Long & Curl Mascara
- I was actually looking for a mascara with a slim wand when I saw this in Etude House. I love this mascara but the comb-like wand does take a little getting used to.

3. Amour Carnival Cocktail Body Spray
- I'm actually very particular with scents because all I can stand are either musky-woody scents or fruity ones. Anything beyond and in-between for me requires a long testing period. ^^ This one from Bench actually has a mild fruity scent that I love. I wish it stayed on longer though.

4. &Rose Flowering Eyes Palette
-I've never seen a palette from a Korean store that has a lot of matte shades and that's probably why I immediately fell in love with this new palette from Etude House. All the colors go well together and the pigmentation is awesome.

5. Etude House Peach Water Gloss
-This is actually my sister's gloss that we got on sale. The reason why I keep on insisting that it'd be placed in somewhere easy to find is that this is one of the best smelling glosses I've ever tried. It doesn't have much color but the scent is just...very addictive.

 6. Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream
- I've always wanted to try a Ben & Jerry's ice cream because they have the wittiest flavors but they're really hard to find locally. So when I saw this in a grocery store, I just grabbed it. Cherry Garcia actually tastes like a Black Forest cake, with all the extra dark chocolate bits.

7. Petroleum Jelly from HBC
-Spending a couple of nights in our office where the A/C seems to be always on full-blast made me realize how important it is to keep a jar of petroleum jelly at hand. What I love about this particular petroleum jelly is that it smells like baby powder.

 8. Human Nature 100% Sunflower Beauty Oil
-I've had this in my stash for quite sometime but I haven't posted a review on it because I still can't figure out what to say about it. The reason why it is on my list is that I've been suffering from dry flaky skin lately and this is my go-to product.

9. Yadah Lip Crayon in Lovely Pink
- I found this while I was browsing The Beauty Bar's page. I didn't realize they carried Korean goodies too! Although I haven't heard much about this Korean brand, Yadah actually has a lot of cool and cute cosmetics like this lip crayon which are quite affordable compared to other Korean brands.

facebook.com

dkpopnews.net

10. KStyle

-KStyle is actually a new show in Mnet Channel that I absolutely love because it talks about Korean fashion, food, beauty secrets and a whole lot of other stuff. I love the hosts Irene and Sarah too. Irene, I think is a model from New York and Sarah is a stylist in Korea. The show is quite different from other Korean shows I watch because it's not subtitled, unless of course, they need to speak in Korean.

Did you find anything interesting in my list? Ask me anything. Cheerio!

LOL Glitter Eye Cream in Starry Night

Hey guys! Early last month, I finally able to buy a small glitter eye cream palette from LOL.
It caught my attention because it was inexpensive, the palette has a lot of colors, and there's only a little amount of every color.

The main reason why I haven't really purchased a glitter eye cream is that most of the ones I've seen are pretty pricey and they come in big pots which I think would not be practical since I won't be able to finish it. ^^

This one from LOL costs 139.00. I got the one in Starry Night, which I think has the neutral shades.

The Verdict:
I'm glad that I picked up the one with neutral shades since most eye shadows I own are browns and coppers. I love all the colors except for the gray and the black since they disappear a little when I put it on top of the eye shadow so the glitter doesn't show much. I like it though because it's packed on glitter so it is usable on its own. It also works as a glitter liner.

The only thing that I don't like about it is that the glitter "travels" around my eye area. I'm still working on that part since setting it with glitter eyeshadow doesn't seem to be working.

Have you tried using glitter eye creams? Lemme know. Cheerio!
