Etude House Dear My Jelly Lips-talk in Sweet and Sour Orange

Hey guys! When Etude House finally had their 20% off on all items sale last month, I was, unfortunately, a little broke. *cue incessant crying* So I was only able to pick up two items. While watching an episode of Etude House blog, I saw a really bright orange lippie. Turned out that one was from the Dear My line and this one is the Jelly-lips one. Nonetheless, this one is a pretty cool buy.

I got the one in Sweet and Sour Orange. ^^ The Jelly Lips-talk line has translucent-colored lippies and a tube costs 478.00 Php but I got it for 382.00 Php.

k

Pros:
1. Smells awesome. Like jelly beans. ^^ Actually makes it pretty hard to control constant licking
2. Cute packaging. Then again, everything in Etude House looks cute.
3. Although the color payoff is pretty sheer, you could actually see that it's a cool orange color
4. It moisturizes a little and it gives a good shine on the lips
5. I love the balm-y texture

Cons:
1. I wish it stained little because it comes off a little too easily
2. It can't really survive a meal so reapplication is necessary
3. Since it's almost like a tinted balm, it's pretty pricey

Out of all my lippies, I actually reach for this the most probably because it's the easiest to work with in terms of color and all that. I can actually put it on without a mirror-a very rare case. ^^

If you're into a lippie with a hint of color and moisturizing factor, this one might be the lippie for you. Cheerio!

Food Talk: Subspace Coffee House

Hey guys! Can I tell you a secret? That's really not much of a secret but... You know. I just can't seem to tell what day of the week it is. ^^ It's been happening lately. It's like I need to carry a calendar with me every day or something.

Anyhoo, last August, I decided to at least scratch off some of my I-so-wanna-go-there food stops that's been on the list for quite a while. One of the places I finally got to visit was Subspace Coffee House, which is, at least from what I know, some sort of Korean cafe. And you know how much I love Korean stuff.

This copy of the TV series Pasta is something I just wanted to take home. Should've asked it was for sale.

Everything looked so delicious that I wanted to try them all but I couldn't...because that would be bad. ^^

This piece on their ceiling is reeeaaallyyy cooolll. ^^

We ordered a Caramel Macchiato (125.00), Cappuccino (110.00), Purple Potato Latte (125.00/the one with the minion latte art ^^), and Dark Chocolate Mint (125.00/the one with the evil minion latte art).

New York Cheesecake (115.00)

 Marshmallow Choco Cake (110.00)

The Verdict:
I love, love, love Subspace. The coffee is nice but I think the distinct taste of my sister's purple potato latte was a more definite hit. ^^ I can't put into words the taste but it is good. My dark chocolate mint tasted like a something you would drink around the Christmas season. It wasn't as bitter tasting as I expected it to be but I liked it. And the mint definitely made all the difference.

The cakes were good, too. My mom spoke highly of the cheesecake which I don't even remember trying anymore. And the choco cake was also nice but it could use a little more marshmallow cream. At least, in my opinion.

Price-wise, I don't think they're that much different from most cafes nowadays. ^^ Plus, the place looks really cool, they played most of my all-time favorite K-pop songs, and the staff was great. The place though is a bit small and could probably fit around 15-20 people.

We'd definitely visit Subspace again. It's a really cool place and all the K-pop goodies just make me happy.

You can find Subspace at 103 G/F Grand Emerald Tower, F. Ortigas Jr. Road, Ortigas Center.

What's your favorite quirky cafe? Lemme know. Cheerio!

Certified Movie Buff: Gwanghae, The Man Who Became King

Hi guys! It's been a while since I posted a movie entry. I actually have been watching a lot of movies lately but most of them are subtitled. ^^ There was Hua Mulan, then the Thai movie Hello Stranger, and a couple of Korean films. This one is of those many films.

I've actually read about this film in dramabeans way back. I found it interesting but a copy of a historical/sageuk film is just hard to come by. So when my sister recently watched this in school and took home a copy, I was ecstatic.

The title in Korean translates to Gwanghae, The Man Who Became King but it is also known as Masquerade. It is a 2012 film starring Lee Byung Hun, Han Hyo Joo, and Ryu Seung Ryong.

When King Gwanghae (Byung Hun) got sick due to, well, an assassination attempt, he called on his councilor and instructed him to find a man who resembles him to take over the throne for 15 days as he recovers. Basically, that's also to avoid causing an uproar in the kingdom. Read: Sick king = kingdom- all hell breaks loose. Then, they find Ha Sun (also Byung Hun), an entertainer/joker who just really seems like a happy-go-lucky guy. When he was eventually convinced to sit on the throne, Ha Sun's eyes were opened to things much bigger than he had ever imagined.

One of the very interesting things about the story is actually on Ha Sun's personality and Gwanghae's personality differences which didn't come unnoticed in the kingdom. Also, it was entertaining to see Ha Sun adjusting to the life of not just a royalty, but the head of the country. He was challenged to think more of the kingdom than just of himself, which he's totally not used to.

This movie is just insanely good. I've had my huge share of dislikes when it comes to historical films but this film definitely changed that. It was witty, funny, and heart warming. And Byung Hun did such a great job portraying both the seemingly stone-hearted king and Ha Sun.

Although I can't vouch for the real-ness of the things tackled in this film, I'd actually recommend that you watch this if you get the chance. I think you just might enjoy it. ^^

Cheerio!

September 2013 Hit Listers

Hi! I know this list of, well, hit listers is super late but here it is anyway. ^^ My days have been really crazy lately, but I will try my best to fill in my missing blog days.

Most of the items on this list are the ones that I've picked up late August and early September. Here goes...

1. Etude House Correct and Care (CC) Cream in Silky
- I wasn't really planning on hopping onto the CC cream bandwagon. But ever since I watched an episode of Get It Beauty that talked about the better benefits of using CC cream, I decided to give it a try. So far, I'm liking this one from Etude House. Although I have yet to see its long term use effects, I'm happy with it.

2. Etude House Dear My Jelly Lips-talk in Sweet and Sour Orange
- I was initially planning on getting a bright orange lippie but zeroed in on this instead. I love that it's like a tinted balm and smells like candy.

3. Artdeco Camouflage Cream in #9
-I've been always on the search for the best concealer that can help me with covering up my dark spots and scars. I've heard great things about this concealer cream and I'm glad to say, after trying it out, I support most of those things.

4. Majolica Majorca Brow and Lash Colorist in BR333
-I usually keep a tube of brow mascara around for my mom who, let's just say, wasn't blessed with much brow hair. ^^ It was actually my mom who saw this and wanted to try it out. I'm glad she convinced me to buy it because I actually came around to liking it as well.

5. LOL Pressed Powder in Light
-This is probably one of the best powders I've tried in terms of shade match. I also love it's packaging and, it's inexpensive too.

6. LOL Glitter Eye Cream in Starry Night
-I never thought I'd find a glitter eye cream shadow, much less a set of it, that wouldn't cause much pain to my wallet. Plus, it works so well.

7. Jolie Soft Leather Boots
-I've been searching for a pair of boots that I could wear on weekends and in the office and when I saw these brown boots, I knew they were the pair. ^^ I have no problem taking a hike with these on.

8. Face Brush from Landmark
-I always turn to the trusty white sugar when my face needs a good scrub but I figured it'd be better to actually own a face brush/scrub. And where better to look than in Landmark. So what'd you know, I found this and it's only 40 bucks. That's even less than a dollar.

9. Bobbie Royal Caviar Pearl Collection in Gorgeous Princess
-When I saw this at Watsons, I immediately grabbed it since I knew it would go out of stock soon like all their other special nail polishes. ^^ For only 99 bucks, this is actually a great set for those who want to don pearly nails. ^^

10. Two Weeks
-I was actually watching Two Weeks with Master's Sun but decided to include Master's Sun first on my hit listers. Two Weeks probably is one of the few K-dramas (the other is I Hear Your Voice) that managed to give me a small case of heart attack every week with its cliff hangers. Two Weeks is actually about Tae San, a gangster who suddenly finds out that he has an 8 year old daughter in need of a bone marrow transplant and he's the only possible donor. Unfortunately, he's also running for his life. Basically, he has to survive the two weeks before his daughter's scheduled surgery-- he dies, his daughter dies. A must-watch. Definitely. I hope one of the local networks gives this some airtime.

Hope you like this month's hit listers. ^^ Cheerio!
