Gap Mini Lip Glosses in Nude and Red

Hi guys. These baby lip glosses have been sitting on my stash for quite a while. I got these Gap Mini Lip Glosses from a bazaar last Christmas. They came in a cute round silver hard coin purse.

They cost 100 bucks plus the coin purse.

As you can see, they are about the size of an eyeliner cap. I took pictures of the applicators, but for some reason, it won't show up right so I decided to remove the pics. The applicators are doe-foot applicators.

Nude

 Red

Pros:
1. Smells great, like vanilla!
2. It's sticky but not much, which I like because most glosses that I have are very sticky
3. Pigmented
4. Cute size that I can carry and put almost anywhere
5. The shimmer it has is not too overwhelming

Cons:
1. Not easily available
2. Not long lasting
3. A bit pricey for its size

I love the red better because the nude one kind of washes me out. I would have loved to have this in other colors. Problem is, I don't know where to get them and if there are other colors. I think I saw a clear one back then. All in all, these are pretty neat run-of-the-mill mini glosses.

Own any mini lip glosses? Lemme know. =) Cheerio!

Look What I Bought #3

Hi guys. I've been following To the Beautiful You on KimchiDrama these past days that I haven't gotten around on fixing the pics for this blog. Really sorry about that. Anyway, just a quick post to show you guys what I bought this weekend. Review on the beauty products to follow after thorough testing.

Actually, the only thing I bought here was the card peeking near the Kim Hyun Joong mask. It's a cardboard Club 20 VIP card that allows access/invitations to make-up events and the sort. Such as that one with Son Dae Sik in Trinoma held a couple of days ago. Too bad I purchased the card a little too late. The freebies/ samples are (5 pcs. of of each kind [essence, BB Cream, and Sun Cream], a mini box of toner and lotion, and a lemon mask) I let my sister get whatever she liked, and this is what's left for me to try.

The membership card is worth 150 Php. Worth it, considering the freebies I got. =)

I got these at Greenhills. The blue ribbon (40 Php) and my sister's crepe earrings (70 Php) are from Girl Shoppe, and the peace bracelet (50 Php) is just a random find.

I got curious with these Beauty Buffet masks because of the cute packaging. These are from Watsons, and they're 39 Php each. I've already tried the green one, and I think it works just fine.

Any new buys this week? Lemme know. Cheerio!

Landmark Flat Top Brush

Hi! When Trinoma first released make-up brushes ( I can't remember when exactly), I still wasn't about collecting them. I liked how they look, but that was it. But, when I started getting hooked on make-up, their brushes started disappearing, much to my dismay. But, a few weeks ago, I got lucky with this flat top brush.

Sorry about the color. I've used it before the "pictorial"

Pros:
1. Affordable at 149.00
2. Bristles are soft
3. Good for applying cream, liquid or powder cosmetics. =)
4. Overall, the brush feels and looks sturdy
5. Didn't bleed or shed

Cons:
1. I feel like the bristles are not fully packed, like it could've used just more bristles
2. When I bought this, a few of the "hairs" were sticking out, they didn't fall off, they were just sticking up
3. Deformed because of the flat packaging, but a little reshaping while I washed it did the trick

All in all, I love this brush. I think I've found another favorite. I use this to apply my BB cream, blush, and powder. It works well, given its price.

Ever tried Landmark's brushes? Lemme know. Cheerio!

Careline Color Pencil in Black

Hi guys. I don't usually find Mondays exciting, but since it's a free day, Happy Monday! I bought this a few days ago because I was looking for a good creamy kohl pencil to use for tight-lining my eyes. I was supposed to buy the one from Nichido, then I realized that the store near our place only carried Careline products, so I decided to give this Careline Color Pencil in Black a whirl.

 Pros:
1. Affordable at 55 Php
2. Very black color
3. Comes with an eyebrow comb if you're planning to use it as an eyebrow pencil

Cons:
1. Not creamy enough to be used in tight-lining
2. Not long lasting, smudges easily
3. Has a faint crayon smell which kinda bothered me
4. Color indicator can be tricky because there's no color written on the pencil except for the name. You might accidentally pick up the brown one, like I did the first time.

After testing this eyeliner, I guess I'll be trying others until I find a creamy one that'll suit my needs. =)

Anyways, any suggestions for an eyeliner? Lemme know. Cheerio!

Look What I Bought #2

Hi. It's a good thing it's a long weekend huh? I'm planning to watch movies til I drop. What about you? =) Anyway, just a quick post here to show you guys what I bought about a couple of hours ago. Reviews on the beauty products to follow (after thorough testing) =)

Pure Beauty Pomegranate Anti-oxidant Essence- 51 Php
(I've been meaning to test out the products of Pure Beauty since it's a drugstore Korean Brand. This was the first thing I bought. FIRST IMPRESSION: Smells great)

E.L.F. Blending Eye Brush - 129.75 Php
(Been on my list for quite a while now. It was either this or the one from Charm, but I decided to try this one first. FIRST IMPRESSION: Sheds like crazy! Lost about 25 strands while I was testing it. Uh-oh)

Solemate Doll Shoes -399 for 2 pairs (Olive and Caramel or is it Brown?)
(My shoes have been giving up on me with all the rain, so these I really need. A pair costs 299 so I think this is a great deal.)

Any good movies you'd like to suggest? I'll only be renting out anyways. =)

Enjoy your very long weekend guys! Cheerio!

Certified Movie Buff: A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song

Hi guys. I'd just like to share with you another movie, which I secretly love.

I am a Disney kid so I'm pretty much a sucker for real-life ish spin-off movies of Disney's classic fairytales. One of which is Cinderella. This is the third installment of the A Cinderella Story (2004) which had Hilary Duff as the typical Cinderella. The second one, Another Cinderella Story (2008), with Selena Gomez, the dancing Cinderella. I've heard about Lucy Hale taking the part of Cinderella on the third installment a little after the second one was released, so I waited for a loooongg time. I was actually thinking that it'd be titled And Another Cinderella Story, but what do you know, they titled in A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song (2011) with Bionic Woman's Lucy Hale as the singing Cinderella.

PHOTO FROM WIKIPEDIA.ORG

It still was your typical Cinderella-ish story. Lucy Hale plays the role of Katie, a step daughter-turned-house worker, who was secretly a diva. The difference is that her glass shoe is her voice. She sang an original song for Prince Charming/Son-of-a-record-company-president, as an answer to his song, with a mask on, and a guitar to boot. And of course, there was the stepsister who supposedly had the "voice." And you know how it goes from there. =)

What made this story a little different from the other two is that I felt like Katie had more guts and the I'd-stand-up-for-myself-if-I-have-to attitude more than what Mary (Gomez) and Sam (Duff) had in the previous installments. She also didn't look like she was about to pass out with every close encounter with the English-accented Prince Charming.

Recommended to: Those who like fairytale-ish and almost cliched movies, with some singing.

But hey, I love this movie. If you want to check this out, local rental stores might have a copy, but I caught this on HBO for about three times. =)

Any fairytale-ish faves? Cheerio!

The Saem Ally's Ajell Girls Mousse BB in #1 (Pink Mousse)

Hi guys. So before Helen, the legit typhoon, messes with the Internet connection, I'll be posting this long overdue BB mousse review.

I bought this from Ms. Charmaine of Kkochipida. It was my very first online purchase so I was a bit hesitant. Besides, my sister had a few encounters with unfriendly online sellers, so forgive me for being so afraid. I found out about her Korean online cosmetics shop from Ms. Marge's posts on kikaytrekkie. After a few days, I gave in and texted Ms. Charmaine. We only talked through text messages but I could already tell that she's approachable. Since it was my first time, I had too many questions. And let's just say it's like she talked me through the whole thing.

Anyhoo, this was actually a difficult review because I had no idea whatsoever about the brand the Saem except for it has been endorsed by the Korean girl group After School and now the cutie songstress IU. And sorry I was too happy that I even included the bubble wrap and the package plastic in the picture

Nothing in English here, except from the "Made in Korea" =)
100 ml
I bought this on sale at 245 Php plus 50 pesos shipping fee =)
It was super encased in bubble wrap (as all of Kkochipida's shipped products are)

Pros:
1. It feels very light but it has coverage. The coverage is actually more than my Lovely Me:ex BB Cream, which has a very sheer finish and very light coverage.
2. Easy to blend. I struggled a bit when I used it with my Marionnaud Blush Brush though. But with a flat top brush or a sponge, blending was a breeze
3. Matte finish
4. Oil control is long enough. About 4 hours without setting it with powder. Longer when set with powder, about 6 hours
5. Attractive container and hygienic too, which was what drew me to buy this in the first place

Cons:
1. It has a pink undertone? Maybe that's why it's pink mousse. I have yellowish skin so I have to put on a powder that has yellow tones to kind of cancel out the pink color. No worries about that.
2. The fact that it has no SPF is the biggest con for me
3. It was pretty hard to control the amount that comes out of the pump at first, but a few tries have made me an expert on how much I need. =)
4. Not easily available and from what I know, limited shades. This has a  #2 but I don't know what shade that is. Sorry

Can't say I love this but I like it. If it had SPF and yellowish tone, I would love it. =) The Saem actually has more products I would love to try, but since they're not easily available, I would have to narrow down my picks.

Cheerio!

Certified Movie Buff: A Thousand Words

Hi guys. Sunny sunny day huh? It's kinda nice to feel a little heat and all after all that raining. Anyway, after much battling with myself, I finally decided to inject my other loves into this blog, one of which are movies.

But, I don't want these movie entries to seem like too much like critical bloody reviews. Mostly because I'm not equipped with the ability to properly judge movies. Maybe more like a quick look-see of the movies, and what I think about them. Lemme know how I do, aight?

Anyway, my sister bought a copy of A Thousand Words a few months back. We're very big fans of Eddie Murphy, and the movie seemed promising.

TAKEN FROM IMDB

In the movie, Eddie Murphy plays a literary agent. He literally talks his way into and out of things. He seals book deals the same way. A twist of fate and an important book deal sends him face to face with a certain magical tree that was seemingly entwined with his life. Further in the movie, he realizes that he had about 1000 words left to say (and then he'll die), just as the tree had about 1000 leaves. One word=one falling leaf. The tree dies=he dies. Let's just say the whole thing complicated his life with his family and job. Being so talkative to the point of being senseless, he was in for a big challenge that could actually change his life.

I actually liked this movie. First because I've never seen Eddie Murphy play such a vulnerable role. I've watched a handful of his movies. He was always the funny funny guy and it's kinda good to see him shedding quite a few tears and being all emotional. I wish the movie had more "pow" around the end though, but it was good all the same.

I don't know if this was shown here, like in the cinemas, but I can't be sure. If you want to check this out, I saw copies from local rental stores like Video City.

How'd I do with my first movie entry? Lemme know. Cheerio!

I Got Bitten By the Blog Bug

About a few days ago, I got a comment from Nicole of axonsanddendrites that she awarded me with a "tag award" called the Blog Bug award (her personal creation). The moment I read about it, I started answering the questions and I got stumped, so I took a few days rearranging my answers. =)

I admit that it's very difficult for me to answer questions, but I just went on with it. It was fun still. So here goes nothing. =)

According to Nicole:

"I want to give the Blog Bug award to all those bloggers out there who are active and are always trying to update their fellow bloggers and readers even with their busy life from work and such. I know that it is only passion, drive and happiness from their readers' comments that make them try to do more posts, and I hope that with this Award/tag, we can create a closer knit community of bloggers and readers from all around the country and the world. :)"

And the rules are:
  • If you are given the Blog Bug award, You must answer the questions that follow and the title of the post should be "I Got Bitten by the Blog Bug"
  • You must give the link of where you originally got this award, and you can tag as many bloggers as you want. Link their pages on the post and also inform them through comments in their blog. :)
  • Optional: You must post a banner corresponding to the site that you are using to blog in your sidebar and it should link back to your post about the Blog Bug Award.

And here's me answering (at least trying to) the questions:

1. When and why did you start blogging?

-I started blogging officially and perpetually 4th of July 2011. That's my personal blog though. I created Charlie's Mirror January 2012. I started blogging because of the persuasion of my good friend in college. I've always wanted to go further than my journals when I share my thoughts so that I could reach more people (and fix my shyness), and my friend suggested that I try blogging. I guess it worked. I was a bit doubtful about maintaining a blog at first, but I went on with it. Charlie's Mirror is just a brainchild of my obsession with just about anything and makeup.

2. What do you love to blog about and why do you like it?
-I love blogging about anything, but I jump-started this blog with makeup stuff because it has become an obsession. My mom tickled my fancy for applying makeup when I was young and it just grew with me. But I'm also borderline obsessed with movies, television series, books, and music, so I guess you'll see a bit of everything on that in this blog soon.

3. How did you get your blog name?
-I've named my blogs after my fictional characters from unfinished works. I decided that since the writings will not be finished anytime soon, I'll take the characters out for a ride as my blog personas. Charlie's Mirror is named after Charlotte or Charlie, the character I described as a witty redheaded girl. She's knows no bounds and remembers everything she sees. I see her as someone who'd write a blog, and won't hold back. The mirror is a way of saying that everything that I encounter and see, I try to share with you. That, and I love Disney, Snow White, and the magic mirror on the wall. =)

4. What do you think is your best post yet?
- I don't think I have one yet that I'd consider my "best." Soon I hope. But as of this moment, I'm all for my attempts on nail art. =)

5. What is your inspiration for blogging at present?
-My inspiration right now of course would definitely be the readers who take the time to read my posts. Knowing that someone out there is taking the time to take in my weirdness and read my blog inspires me. =)

6. Message for your readers:
-Hi! Thank you for taking the time to read my entries, going through my lengthy explanations and twisted words. Thanking you for leaving comments, suggestions, and everything else. Thank you for trying to connect with me. I hope that you will see me as your friend someday soon. =)

And now for the fun part, I give this Blog Bug Award to:

And if you happened to have just come across my blog, and found this a fun post to try yourself, then I'm tagging you. =)

Have a great weekend guys. Cheerio!

4u2 dreamGirl Lovelight BB Powder SPF15 PA++

Hi guys. Can I just say one more time that the weather is just crazy? We were actually trying to save our house from getting flooded. We were scooping water out because water was coming out from everywhere inside our house--the ceiling, the walls, the drains. Just everywhere. I hope everyone's now doing a bit better because the weather is supposedly getting well. Even though it's still raining hard here around our place.

Anyway, while I'm preparing for a special post (it's taking me a while to answer the questions haha) here's a quick review of my powder of the moment. I decided it was time to hand back to my mom the foundation I "borrowed" from her, even though it has already hit the pan.

I got this because of the posts I've read from Ms. Donnarence's My Lucid Intervals and Ms. Say's Makeup By Say Tioco Artillero. I figured that if they were singing it praises, I should try one too. But, man, it was so hard to get ahold of one. This was literally the last piece and the nice SA and her magical sales-talk power convinced me to buy this.

Comes in 3 shades (Mine's #3, which is a tad too dark for me)
Price: 194.00
I think it's about 7g

Pros:
1. Has SPF
2. Oil control is about 4-5 hours, which is good enough for me
3. Works like a BB cream, making the face seem smooth and almost poreless
4. Has coverage. Around light to medium coverage
5. Travel-friendly
6. Sponge is of good quality
7. Can be blended to match skin tone
8. Didn't give me breakouts or rashes

Cons:
1. Almost always out-of-stock
2. I have a thing about pink. I don't like the color, but this is just a "me" thing. Doesn't affect the quality of the product whatsoever.
3. Not my exact shade, which is my fault =)

I like this powder actually. I just wish that I waited for them to have stocks of the one that suits my skin color. #3 can be blended to match my skin tone (just as how the SA demonstrated it to me) but when I don't blend it well, you'd see how my face is of a different color than my neck. It's just a tad darker so it's all good with proper blending. When this runs out, I'll just grab the lighter shade.

Stay warm and dry guys! Cheerio!

P.S. To Nicole, the sweet girl who tagged me for the special post, if you're reading this, I promise to hurry up and complete the post. =)

Nyx Lip Smacking Fun Colors in Pumpkin Pie

Hi. The rain just won't stop. It's kinda depressing actually. I feel like I need just a wee bit of sunshine.

Anyways, I've been meaning to have a proper nude-ish lipstick. My search has led to me to buy colors that are, well, not nude enough for me. Then, I came across this Nyx Round Lipstick in Pumpkin Pie when I dropped by Trinoma. The shop's name was Pretty Goddess. They were on the second floor near Starbucks and they were selling a bunch of Nyx products. I bought this because I immediately fell in love with its coral peachy shade.

Price: 150 Php

Pros:
1. Creamy so it glides on smoothly
2. Although I think most of their round lipsticks have some shimmer in them, this has almost none visible
3. Great nude color =) at least for me. It looks very natural
4. Pigmented

Cons:
1. Sheer finish. I would have wanted if it had a stronger color payoff
2. Without lip scrubbing prior to application, it "magnifies" the flakes on my lips
3. Not long lasting
4. I've been checking it since I bought it (and that was around last week) and I feel like it's melting. At least from what I've seen in the container

Despite my stated dislikes, this has been my go-to lipstick for the past week. I just like the peachy shade it has. But, I'm drawn to the color of Narcissus, so I think I'll be trying that next.

Any Nyx lippies favorites? Lemme know. Cheerio!

Have a great day guys! Cheerio!

Introducing Me Phase 1

It just dawned on me (I swear) that my profile picture here on Blogger is not my real face. I always use silhouettes as pictures because I'm way too shy to well, show my real "face" but anyway. I just uploaded my real picture just so you know that I'm no computer program doing a blog. I'm a real person. I'm a real girl. Haha. =)

My next goal is to tell you my name, but I'm still not sure when. But, I promise (crossing my heart here) that I'll be telling you who's the real Charlie. Soon enough. =)

Anyway, stay indoors guys. The wind's pretty scary. Cheerio!

P.S. Can you forgive the picture? It's my best one. Taken by one of my high school best friends. =) And I do smile like that. That's my normal smile. =)

Tony Moly Party Lover Gel Eyeliner in Pearl Navy (#4)

Hi guys. The rain is craaazzyyyy! Anyway, I promised you guys a review of this gel eyeliner that I bought from Ms. Charmaine of Kkochipida (check her website) She's got tons of Korean cosmetics and she sells them at reasonable prices. Haven of Korean cosmetics, I tell you. Plus, Ms. Charmaine is really friendly. I ask her so many questions, but she never fails to answer. =)

Anyway, I found this Tony Moly Party Lover Gel Eyeliner in Pearl Navy on her site, and it was on sale! So, I immediately sent her message to see if it was still available.

It has about 7 colors I think. At least those I that I saw, but I got this one because I wasn't sure if the rest were still available and if they were also on sale. Anyway, navy blue is a good color. I'm not sure how much product there is but I got this for 195 bucks (no shipping fee because Ms. Charmaine was thoughtful enough to squeeze me in on her trip to Trinoma for a meet-up)

Tony Moly Regular Price:348 bucks (Update: actually it 448 Php, so sorry)

Sorry, I kinda tried it out before I had the chance to take pictures

Pros:
1. Glides on smoothly and easily
2. Very, very, very pigmented
3. Great staying power
4. No smudging witnessed
5. As tested, water proof
6. I also like that it has a bit of sparkle so it's not a flat navy blue color

Cons:
None really. But was wearing this one time when I accidentally did a walking marathon under the heat of the sun. I was totally sweating like crazy and went I got home, I noticed that a very, very little eyeliner was transferred to my crease. But since I don't think I would do that walking thing again with eyeliner anyway so, still no peeves here.

BEAUTY TRICK: I learned this from one of my favorite Korean beauty/fashion shows Style Show Fiㄹ (I don't know if it's still airing though and I can't remember if it's Son Dae Shik or Park Tae Yoon who taught it) but one of these make up artists said that to use a gel eyeliner, it helps to put some on your brush for one eye, turn the container upside down, put on the liner, and repeat. Gel eyeliners dry out so easily but it's so taxing to keep screwing on the cap just to keep it from drying out, so just turn it upside down whenever your using it. Same principle, minus the extra work.

I really really like this gel eyeliner. Though it's the first gel one I've tried, I'm absolutely loving it, especially because it stays on all day.

Anyway, keep safe and dry guys. Cheerio!
