Certified Movie Buff: Veronica Mars The Movie

Hi guys. I have something to confess. I'm actually a marshmallow. Not that I'm mushy or anything. Just a really big fan of Veronica Mars. I was actually one of the many who became so devastated to the point of insanity when the show got cancelled in 2007. Although the main story arc of the show was solved, there were still a few bits and pieces left unanswered.

So when I heard that they were doing a movie to slightly heal all of the marshmallow's hearts, I was so happy. Although I know deep down that an hour of Veronica, Logan, Mac, Wallace, and all the other characters in the same screen again after a few years won't suffice, I was glad to get to see them again, and this time in a movie. :D

 How the Veronica Mars movie came to be was quite a thrill. It was the product of all the fans' love for the show. The show actually got funded through the crowd funding service Kickstarter. I think they even went over their actual goal. 

Plot-wise, I think it was a movie that is special to those who actually followed the series. It was a simple case with complicated people that Veronica knows in the mix. I can't really vouch for other people who haven't seen the show to like it and appreciate it the way they could have if they have seen the TV series. The thrill of Veronica (Kristen Bell) coming back to sleuthing. Seeing Logan (Jason Dohring) donning a navy? uniform made me laugh and even nostalgic since he never seemed the type. The reunion of the three-some Wallace (Percy Daggs III), Mac (Tina Majorino), and Veronica brought tears to my eyes. But it was Weevil, the resident badboy of the show, who really brought home the cool in this movie.

Overall, it was a fun film to watch. Not much plot to ponder on but the joy of seeing all of these characters again on the big screen made it so worthy to watch.

So yes. I am and forever will be...a marshmallow.

Certified Movie Buff: The Cat

Hey guys! It's been a while since I posted a movie review.It's been really busy that I usually just plop right onto my bed the minute I get home. :p But I have squeezed in taking a few new pictures of some of the products that I haven't reviewed yet over the weekend so, I hope, fingers crossed and everything, that I'd get a day off and do a review.

Anyhoo. You remember that time when I really got into watching all those subtitled films? Well, this was also one of those films that I gave a whirl. I actually just picked it up because I saw Park Min-young on the CD cover *fangirling*. :P

The Cat tells the story of the reclusive So Yeon, a pet groomer who became entangled with the twisted story of the creepy creepy creepy cat, Bidanyi, whose owner suddenly ended up dead inside an elevator. (See? This is why I hate elevators with those creepy blinking freaky lights, which we have by the way...you know, where I work). When she ended up having to "cat-sit" Bidanyi, the claustrophobic So Yeon starts seeing weird ghostly stuff and the little girl with the cat-like eyes. Together with a rookie cop, So Yeon starts to dig around about the story of the girl and the scary dead-ish cats (aside from Bidanyi) following her around--before, of course, everyone around her turns up dead.

Okaaay. That was way creepier than I expected and I hope I didn't spoil the flick for you. Do check out The Cat when you come across a copy. It's not the strongest and scariest Asian horror film that I've watched (given that I had a good night sleep after watching this) but it does give you a little fright that might make you, you know, take a step back and rewire your brain before touching kitties.

Certified Movie Buff: Hello Stranger

Hi! This'll be just a short movie entry, I promise. ^^ This film was actually a recommendation from a good friend of mine. I've actually seen the CD of this in some CD shops but I never did think about buying it. But since I've heard that it's actually a good film, I decided to find myself a copy.

 Hello Stranger is a 2010 Thai film that's mostly about being in that blurred line between a rom-com movie and reality. That, and happenstance. It's basically a story about a girl and a guy who met by chance in South Korea while on vacation. They were there for different reasons and somehow along the way when they met, they just found comfort with each other. Then of course, life has to be the pain in the ass, and reality just caught up with them, waking them up from what was seemingly a love story on water. In the end, it was just a matter of knowing whether or not you give into fate or if you'd create it. :P

I don't wanna spoil much about the movie but I will tell you that it was really fun to watch. The kind of film that just makes you want to hang on until the last minute, wondering how everything would end.

Certified Movie Buff: Quick

Hey guys! I'm currently borrowing this laptop so no reviews for now because all my pics are in the other computer.

So, I am giving you another movie entry. ^^ This movie is a 2011 Korean action film starring Lee Min-ki and Kang Ye-won.

This movie is about used-to-be-bad-boy-biker-turned-delivery boy Ki-su who finds himself following a stranger's phone calls to deliver mysterious packages that turn out to be bombs or else suffer the consequences, which actually equate to the rigged wristwatch and helmet. As if that wasn't bad enough, his current "package to deliver" is his ex-girlfriend, Ahrom, who was dragged into probably the most dangerous bike ride ever.

It was a pretty interesting movie. It actually reminded me of Shia LaBeouf's movie Eagle Eye. I would say though that the pacing of the movie/plot during the first minutes of the film was kind of slow and the build up was not as seamless as it could be but when the problem started to present itself to the main characters, the flow of the movie eventually became much better. 

This is available for rent at your local rental video shops but their copies are already dubbed. If you'd get the chance to find the subtitled version, I'd suggest that you watch that once since there are a lot of dialogues that would really sound much better in Korean.

Certified Movie Buff: Doll Master

Hi guys! Can I tell you a little secret? I'm probably (at least I think I am) a bad person to go see movies with *haha*. I'm not a spoiler or anything but I do tend to react differently against the genre a movie is supposed to be. Say, I laugh at dramatic movies at times. It doesn't happen often but it has been known to happen. ^^

And, since I'll be talking about a horror film...please know that I actually scream before  something even happens. That's so I can actually prevent getting thrown of my chair or falling of my bed out of fright. ^^ It's a prepping thing.

Anyway, I mentioned a while back that I've been having a subtitled-movies phase lately and this was one of the movies I've watched. Out of all movie genres, horror is probably my least liked but when I do get the chance to watch horror films, I go for Korean and Filipino ones.

I was telling my sister to think a lot about renting this out since I am a scaredy cat and the CD cover just scared the daylights out of me. But because she heard that this was a good film, I kinda gave in and braced my self for yet another sleepless night.

Doll Master is a 2004 Korean horror flick that basically tells the story of, well, a doll master during the Japanese period who created a doll that he based or was inspired by a woman in a red kimono who he fell in love with. Then stuff happened (I don't want to spoil the movie for you! ^^) and the red kimono lady doll had to seek revenge which actually extended to the present time. This is how five complete strangers ended up stuck in a doll museum, trying to figure out the secret of the "new" doll master while struggling to save their lives.

The movie was nicely made and the plot definitely had gripping parts. I would say that this film made me a little more scared of porcelain dolls. Ever since my friend edited our highschool horror film with porcelain dolls cuts, I was already a little jittery seeing one and now this film.

It definitely wasn't as gory as I thought it would be. It did have parts where you'd want to cover up your eyes. But I've seen gory-gory-gory horror flicks and this is probably just 4/10 gory compared to all those others.

Certified Movie Buff: Gwanghae, The Man Who Became King

Hi guys! It's been a while since I posted a movie entry. I actually have been watching a lot of movies lately but most of them are subtitled. ^^ There was Hua Mulan, then the Thai movie Hello Stranger, and a couple of Korean films. This one is of those many films.

I've actually read about this film in dramabeans way back. I found it interesting but a copy of a historical/sageuk film is just hard to come by. So when my sister recently watched this in school and took home a copy, I was ecstatic.

The title in Korean translates to Gwanghae, The Man Who Became King but it is also known as Masquerade. It is a 2012 film starring Lee Byung Hun, Han Hyo Joo, and Ryu Seung Ryong.

When King Gwanghae (Byung Hun) got sick due to, well, an assassination attempt, he called on his councilor and instructed him to find a man who resembles him to take over the throne for 15 days as he recovers. Basically, that's also to avoid causing an uproar in the kingdom. Read: Sick king = kingdom- all hell breaks loose. Then, they find Ha Sun (also Byung Hun), an entertainer/joker who just really seems like a happy-go-lucky guy. When he was eventually convinced to sit on the throne, Ha Sun's eyes were opened to things much bigger than he had ever imagined.

One of the very interesting things about the story is actually on Ha Sun's personality and Gwanghae's personality differences which didn't come unnoticed in the kingdom. Also, it was entertaining to see Ha Sun adjusting to the life of not just a royalty, but the head of the country. He was challenged to think more of the kingdom than just of himself, which he's totally not used to. 

This movie is just insanely good. I've had my huge share of dislikes when it comes to historical films but this film definitely changed that. It was witty, funny, and heart warming. And Byung Hun did such a great job portraying both the seemingly stone-hearted king and Ha Sun.

Although I can't vouch for the real-ness of the things tackled in this film, I'd actually recommend that you watch this if you get the chance. I think you just might enjoy it. ^^

Certified Movie Buff: She's on Duty

Hi! As you might have already figured out, I'm a big Korean fan. I blog occasionally about the Korean series I watch but I don't really talk much about the Korean movies that I watch. Mainly because I'm a sucker for movies with happy endings. Life's already too depressing so I need my movie fixes to be a little less worse. ^^ But I still do watch a couple of  Korean films but don't end up writing about them because my heart usually get into tight knots when I try to. Not because they all ended sad or anything, it's just that I don't quite know what I feel about them. Most of them are so complicated. Anyway.

But this one's an exemption. I've watched this a couple of times already and I loved it because I like action films with people going undercover. ^^

This is a 2005 film starring Kim Sun-ah (My Name is Kim Sam Soon, Scent of A Woman/Helena's Promise, I Do, I Do) and Gong Yoo (Coffee Prince, Big). Kim Sun-ah plays the role of Chung Jae-in, a cop who goes undercover to befriend and protect Seung-hee (Nam Sang-mi, Gourmet), a daughter of a gangster, so that she wouldn't be used as bait. So Jae-in has to go undercover as a high school student--that means trying to protect Seung-hee, while studying and trying not to be a war freak and big bully, courtesy of her police training. And believe me, she's like a Korean version of Gracie Hart-- she just can not, not fight. ^^ And then there's Gong Yoo, but his character was quite a mystery throughout the entire film, and I wouldn't want to be a spoiler, so...

But this is quite an enjoyable movie, if you're into action-comedy films. It was quite nice to see Kim Sun-ah in this kind of a role. I've seen her sassy, shy, and simply adorable, so it was good to see her kick ass. ^^

Certified Movie Buff: Cast Away

Hey guys! Just a quick movie entry. 

A few weeks ago, my family and I had some sort of Tom Hanks movie marathon, we're talking about You've Got Mail and all those other old Tom Hanks films I could even barely remember. But one film though, I'd never forget or even get tired of watching. And that's the 2000 film, Cast Away.

I've probably watched this more than 20 times but I still cry every time.

 Cast Away is about the FedEx system analyst, Chuck Noland (Hanks). He's some sort of expert on the time it takes for FedEx to deliver their packages and stuff, and he tries to figure out when there are delivery problems. At around Christmas time, he gets summoned to fly to Asia to figure out a problem in Malaysia. 

On the way, his plane crashes and after some time, he gets swept to shore with only the life raft he's been holding on to and a few FedEx packages that he was able to get a hold of.

His first few weeks were obviously a painted picture of train wreck moments. It was interesting to watch how he tried to survive on the island--his struggles to feed himself or keep warm and just stay sane. He spent four years stuck on the island with almost no hope of being rescued with the picture of his girlfriend, Kelly, and a unopened FedEx package as the only things he holds on to as reasons to live.

My favorite, and probably most heart-wrenching, moment in the film was the time toward the end of the film when he just decided to build a raft with his island best friend Wilson the volleyball, well, ball, and try to find their way home. But because of the storm, Wilson gets lost, sending Nolan to tears, saying sorry that he was unable to save his inanimate friend. It's supposed to be funny, but it wasn't. I mean, it made me cry! 

The ending was interesting. I wouldn't say much since there may be some of you who haven't watched it yet and are planning to. All I'd say is that it was a nice wrap to such a great film. ^^

Believe me, if you're planning to watch this film and you're a human faucet like me, bring some tissues. Or towels. Huge ones.

Certified Movie Buff: Man of the House

Man of the House stars Tommy Lee Jones as a ranger tasked to protect five cheerleaders who witnessed a murder (well, they can't really describe the bad guy, well)-- That includes living with them, their screaming antics and tampon needs, and with their belly buttons exposed much to his dismay. 

Tommy Lee Jones rocks as a cheerleading coach/father figure/cop in this film. The scene I loved the most about the movie is when these cheerleaders, no matter how high-maintenance they seemed, learned how to work to help Jones when his daughter was in trouble. Plus, the getting-to-know moments and that scene in the ice-skating rink. Oh and that part when Tommy Lee installed that huge AC system so they'd put more clothes on. Just plain hilarious.

This movie is definitely funny, action-packed and heartfelt all at the same time.

Certified Movie Buff: Miss Congeniality

Hello! Here comes another movie, well, entry. I was gonna say that it's a secret inclination but since I'll be sharing it, it doesn't seem much of a "secret." While other people love romantic comedies, romantic films, and others, I like action packed films with a dash of comedy. That's when undercover movies come in.

Miss Congeniality (2000) is one of my favorite films of all time. I love it to bits just because I think Sandra Bullock did such a good job on portraying a bad-ass cop and a pageant queen all at the same time.

Bullock plays the boyish, with-no-poise-whatsoever, owns-no-hairbrush-and-every-mess-in-between FBI agent Gracie Hart. Hart is practically always in the bureau's hot seat for lack of discipline so when she gets the chance to redeem herself, she goes undercover as a Miss USA candidate to stop a possible terrorist bombing. So yes, the agent who laugh-snorts and dons ketchup stain on her uniform ditches everything else but the gun and wears a bikini and yes, the evening gown.

I love the film because I didn't think Gracie completely revamped herself and became all girly, which is what I was afraid off. She was still a little crass and rough, even with heels on. And it's nice to see her stuffing donuts into, well, everywhere when she was thrown into the "diet den."

The second movie was not much of a "wow" sequel for me. It was good and still had action, but because it lacked the surprise and sass that the first one had, it was just another funny movie for me. It was good, but because everyone already knew Gracie, my undercover love just went down the drain.

Anyways, if you want to watch this film, there are still CDs available at your local video stores.

Certified Movie Buff: National Treasure

Hey guys! I got one, well two, of my favorites here in "Movie Buff." They're no longer new films but every time I watch them, they're still as awesome.

I'm a sucker for action-adventure-thriller-suspense films, and the two National Treasure films fall into one or two of these categories. So, National Treasure was an instant favorite. Plus, both films were under Disney and Jerry  Bruckheimer. The first film came out in 2004, and the second in 2007.

I'm no movie expert, given that I would probably rate the cheesiest movie of all time as something that is "brilliantly written." *haha* I just love films and rate them according to my liking and how well I understood the concept of the films. 

I love the National Treasure films because I think they were well-written. I liked how the second film transcended the first one in terms of the setting and the story. I usually believe that "sequels tend to suck" but in this case, I think the second was just as great as the first. 

The first National Treasure film was mainly about Ben Gates' (Nicholas Cage) journey in pursuing a treasure hunt that has been unsuccessful for years. It was his way of introducing his family, including his ancestors, as real treasure hunters and not merely thieves. Ben is smart in all aspects, and his team with Riley, and Abigail, and his dad makes the entire film just more brilliant.

The second film was more of a personal hunt for the Gate's family since it was about Ben's great-great grandfather being accused of one of the people who planned the assassination of former American president Abraham Lincoln, but of course, there's still a treasure at stake. 

I made an entry about this cool franchise because there are rumors about a third film (Yey!!!). I sure hope that it would still be as great as the first two, and I hope it gets shown soon.

Certified Movie Buff: Legally Blondes

Hi. Today, I was supposed to write a review on a BYS lipstick but the sun set down on me a little too fast so I wasn't able to take pictures. Maybe tomorrow, not making any promises but I'll definitely try.

Anyway. No, you are not reading a typo here. The movie really is called Legally Blondes. Not exactly two Elle Woods but you get the pic.

Legally Blondes is a 2009 spin-off of the famed Legally Blonde, with Elle Woods being played by the gorgeous Reese Witherspoon. She wasn't on this one though but her name did come up a few times. The two blondes are played by Camilla and Rebecca Rosso. Please don't ask who's who though. ^_^

Unlike Legally Blonde, this had a more youthful theme and plot. The twins play the roles of Elle's British cousins, Izzy and Annie, who moved to Southern California. With a mean girl trying to sabotage their carefree and friendly image, the girls find themselves being their own "lawyers" and seemingly reenacting Elle Woods' famous court scene in a much, much, smaller scale.

Of course, the pink and the chihuahuas will never leave the screen.

I, of course, love the original one, even the sequel, much better. But this one isn't so bad and is definitely worth watching. I think copies of this are still available at your local CD stores.

Certified Movie Buff: Wild Child

Hey. Happy Monday! Even though in my head I'm wishing that it's still Saturday or Sunday. ^^ Anyway. Since all I can think of right now is how much I want to watch a few movies but can't since it'd be too late to sleep when I finish, here's a quick movie, well, synopsis for you guys.

This one came out a little after Emma Roberts starred in a Nancy Drew movie. I watched this before Scream 4 came out and I still didn't know she can play the I'm-so-insane-I-can-kill role so well.

Wild Child is about Poppy Moore, a spoiled sassy teenager from Malibu who one day gets into her dad's nerves so badly that she gets sent to a boarding school in England where her brat-titude is simply not acceptable. So are her Jimmy Choos, I believe. With the strict Mrs. Kingsley (played by the late Natasha Richardson) watching her every move, Poppy must concoct a plan to get herself kicked out of the school, all while finding the reasons that might make her want to stay. Flower boy of the screen is played by Storm Breaker's Alex Pettyfer.

It's probably because this was the first time I've watched Emma Roberts play such a bratty role that I actually enjoyed the movie. She was so convincing by the way that I personally wanted to wring her neck at one point. Kidding. It's a light and fun movie that's just perfect for someone who needs a few hours of ME time. Plus, there're makeover scenes. =)

Movie Buff: Revenge of the Bridesmaids

Hey guys. Before Saturday officially ends, I just wanted to share with you this very cool movie that I got to watch a few weeks ago.

I don't know how many of you feel the same way, but I think movies made for TV are just as good as the ones shown in cinemas. There are actually many of them around but if you don't have cable, YouTube will be you BFF, like me. ^-^ Disney Channel has many of my favorite TV movies, but lately, I've been loving the works of ABC Family. One of the many movies that I loved is Revenge of the Bridesmaids.

If you're a big Disney kid like me, then you'll recognize that feisty girl on the left. I think I've been watching Raven Symone on Disney since forever. Well at least until they completely pulled out That's So Raven.

Anyways, Raven plays the role of Abigail Scanlon, a writer who reunites with her childhood best friend Parker (Joanna Garcia) in their hometown. However, when they found out that their other best friend Rachel (Chryssie Whitehead) had her boyfriend stolen and made fiance by their used-to-be-childhood-friend-too-but-she-turned-out-to-be-so-evil Caitlin, Abigail and Parker's wheels start turning as they hatched what could be the best undercover assignment--Be bridesmaids and "kick the bride's ass." Trust me, their determination to have Caitlin cough up the real reason she goes around stealing and marrying someone else's boyfriend is downright hilarious.

Call it fan-girling but I just can't stop laughing when Raven is on screen. I don't know-there's just something about her that's naturally funny and witty and entertaining.

Anyhow, if you'd have the chance to watch this--either by downloading it or poring over YouTube or catching it on TV--please do. It's just one of those movies that'd make your day seem a little less stressful.

Certified Movie Buff: Serendipity

Hi guys. With the day of love and hearts just around the corner, I just wanted to share with you this rom-com movie that's one of the best that I've watched.

I've watched Serendipity a couple of times and I'll always remember it's story about well, life's serendipitous events and how it can lead you to circumstances that you never thought possible, like in love for instance.

Serendipity is a 2001 film that tells the story of Jonathan (John Cusack) and Sara (Kate Beckinsale), two people with much lives and love of their own, who felt a "connection" after meeting at Bloomingdale's as they reached for the same pair of gloves. As if by some twist of fate, they keep running into each other during the same night.

Convinced that destiny might be at its work, they decided to give their connection a try. Jonathan wrote his name and number on a five-dollar bill and Sara, on a copy of Love in the Time of Cholera, both of which to end up in the hands of whoever. If they were meant to be together, eventually, Sara would end up with that five dollar bill and Jonathan, with the book. 

A couple of years later, both still hold on to the fateful night and each other. I guess they hoped that by sheer happenstance, destiny would intervene with their already-paved ways of love and life and they'd see each other again.

It's nice to watch a movie that played with the concept of fate being too dynamic and too mysterious that two people would end up risking it all just to see if they can sail along with it. It depicts love as something that is fated and not searched for, since Jonathan and  Sara seemed happy with the lives that they had before they met each other.

It's a very nice movie to watch. Not too tear-jerking and not too cliched for a rom-com. If you're planning to spend the day of hearts watching movies, I hope you squeeze this in on your list.

Certified Movie Buff: The Santa Clause

Hi guys. I guess everyone's pretty busy now that Christmas is coming in less than a week. But if you do have the time to squeeze in a little me or family time, might as well spend it by watching a really cool Christmas movie.

I, no, my family and I have this "thing" for Christmas movies. We've probably watched all the Home Alone movies a hundred times, but this is also one of our favorites: The Santa Clause trilogy. Nope, not a typo. There's def an "e" there, I checked.

This is actually a pretty old movie. The first one was shown late in 1994 and the third one at around 2006. 

So, The Santa Clause tells the tale of Scott Calvin, a divorced businessman who couldn't care less about Christmas. Sort of like Scrooge with a suit on instead of pajamas. When he mistakes Santa Claus, walking on his roof, as a burglar, he accidentally scares him off and sends Santa falling off the roof and virtually dying. I don't know if he actually died or what because he just, well, disappeared. That's when the "clause" comes in. A clause, left as a card on the suit, that says that whoever gets a hold of the Santa suit and wears it has the obligation to be Santa Claus, and of course, Scott just had to try it on. And that's how all hell broke loose, which included growing a white beard despite shaving. Scott now has to learn to love Christmas and be the "big bearded guy" or just end up destroying Christmas for everyone else.

Well, I've spoiled quite enough about the movie. All in all, it's a great family movie. Very Christmas-y with a dash of Disney magic. The second one (the Mrs. Clause one) and the third (the one with Jack Frost as the villain) are great too, but I think the first one is the best. Well, I think in most movie series, the first one is always the best. The Santa Clause embraces every aspect of Christmas that a child always thinks about, with a few good lessons to learn along the way.

Certified Movie Buff: Christmas With the Kranks

Hi guys. Just a quick post here about my favorite Christmas movie. It's plot is a little unusual, which made it such a good film. Besides, who could pass up a movie with Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Christmas With the Kranks (2004) is actually the movie version of John Grisham's 2001 novel, Skipping Christmas. I read the book after I watched the movie, which I don't always do because I always end up liking the book better.

Christmas With the Kranks, tells the story of Nora and Luther Krank, who were faced with the fact that they were about to celebrate Christmas without their only daughter Blair, whose Peru trip clashed with the holidays.

When Luther realizes that they spent over 6,000 dollars for last year's Christmas celebration, he came up with the disturbing idea of not celebrating Christmas, and splurging their money on a Carribean cruise on Christmas Day instead, since Christmas won't be the same without their daughter.

Despite Nora's doubts, she goes on with Luther's ridiculous plan, which involved not buying Christmas cards, not taking out Frosty, not putting up lights and the works, much to their neighbors' dismay and being dubbed as Scrooge.

All hell breaks loose when Blair calls on Christmas Eve to say that she was about to come home to celebrate Christmas with her family, bringing her new fiance along. Now, Luther and Nora must come up with the plan to bring the Christmas spirit to their house in a few hours.

Although this movie has received a handful of negative remarks because of its negative message, I actually find the movie quite interesting. The movie isn't entirely about skipping Christmas but also about realizing the meaning of Christmas. Plus, I enjoyed watching Luther and Nora scour for every possible Christmas thing just to decorate their home on Christmas Eve.

This is definitely a must-watch, but I must ask you to keep an open mind as you watch this. =) Cheerio!

Certified Movie Buff: Last Holiday

Hi guys. Since the holidays are fast approaching, I thought that I might as well share with you some of the holiday movies that I absolutely love. You might want to check 'em out if you're into having Christmas movie marathons.

My family and I are confessed movie buffs, and we have probably watched Last Holiday more than 20 times and not strictly during the Christmas season.

I probably love this flick so much because I'm a sucker for heart-wrenching films that make me pray for happy endings.

Last Holiday is a 2006 film starring Queen Latifah and LL Cool J. Queen Latifah plays the role of Georgia Byrd, a sales clerk/aspiring cook at the cooking ware of a department store who lived most of her life too timidly and safely. When a small accident leads her to have a CAT scan, everything goes haywire when Georgia finds out she has the Lampington's disease and has about three weeks to live.

With a new perspective, and a life deadline, Georgia takes on the risks to live her life to the fullest and the best ways she could, all while sending those around her in a reality check whirlwind of optimism and self-faith.

It's a fun story of Georgia's journey of this new road to self-discovery and the path she has never actually taken or looked at. It was great to see her transform and transcend into this whole new person who's willing to try everything in such a short amount of time. She just redefined "blowing" every penny she has.

What to check out: Georgia's funny self conversations with God, and her drop-dead gorgeous outfits like the one on the poster that she wore to eat out. Yes, to eat out.

Well, if you do have the time to watch a movie, do check this out. It's funny yet heart-warming, just perfect for the holidays. Cheerio!

Certified Movie Buff: The Net 2.0

Hi guys. Another day of the weekend coming to an end. Before heading to bed, I just wanted to share with you one of the coolest movies I've watched.

I'm a big sucker for suspense films and The Net 2.0 really is suspenseful. It's a 2006 film starring Nikki Deloach. It's the sequel to Sandra Bullock's The Net back in 1995. Unfortunately, despite my efforts, I just can't find a copy.

The Net 2.0 is about the computer analyst Hope Cassidy who travels from America to Istanbul for a job. With, how'd you say, sheer bad luck and extremely bad people, she finds herself running for life- without a name, without money, without anything. She gets involved into this mad theft game, with no one to help her but herself.

It's sort of Jason Bourne-ish, but what I like about the movie really is the frustration of Hope Cassidy to prove that she's not the criminal Kelly Roos, without anyone to vouch for her. We're talking about American Embassy sabotage, wiped clean bank account, a phony woman pretending to be Hope Cassidy, and the works. 

If you're all about teeth-gritting-out-of-frustration movies, this one is for you.

Certified Movie Buff: Cellular

Hi. Since it's October, I decided to switch up the types of movies I'd be putting up, being that it's Halloween month and all. 

I'm a very big fan of suspense/action films (so I'm happy that Patterson's character, Alex Cross will finally be on the big screen). Not so much fan of horror because most that I've watched scared the beejeezus out of me. And, I'm a huge Scream fan. Huge. =)

Anyway, this 2004 film Cellular is one of my absolute favorites. I've watched this probably more than 20 times because it's really good. It stars Kim Basinger, Chris Evans, and the bad guy, Jason Statham.

Kim Basinger plays Jessica Martin, a biology teacher who was kidnapped together with her son for something that her husband has witnessed and filmed on video (she finds out about it later on in the film). With a crushed telephone inside where she was being held as her only piece of hope, she attempts to repair it and contact anybody who can help her. She gets lucky and reaches the cell phone of Ryan, played by Chris Evans, and asks for help to save her, her son, and her husband who was being tracked down by Ethan (Jason Statham)

This movie would make you hold your breath, like when Ryan's phone runs of juice. A great suspense film that's going to make you hold on to every scene just to find out if a stranger would help out a woman claiming that she's been kidnapped on the phone.

If you love suspense films like me, do check this one out.
