I Nailed It #22: Glittered Candy

Hey guys! Just a quick nail art post. I did this while re-watching Frozen (totally daebak!). Unfortunately, this nail art was destroyed during my sleep because I did it when it was like 11 pm. So, it didn't dry well,. I really do have to buy a nail polish dryer. Anyhow.

Here are the polishes I used (L-R): OMG in Colorless, Skin Food Nail Vita Base Coat, Etude House Look At My Nails in Jelly Blossom Syrup, and Bobbie Cocktail Hour #2 in Blue Martini (This is a polish from the Bobbie Nail Gradation Set that I reviewed here.)

I just put on the base coat, two coats of the Jelly Blossom Syrup, waited a couple of minutes for it to slightly dry because I could drag the pink color by dabbing on the glitter, dabbed on the glitter on about a 1/3 of each nail, then put on the top coat.

What'd you think about this nail art? Lemme know. Cheerio!

I Nailed It #20 With Love, Mickey

Hey guys! I apologize for not being able to update this blog as much as I want to. Aside from my wallet walking out on me after a terrible fight about me spending too much money on makeup (shout out to a good friend for this clever excuse), I almost always get too tired when I get home.

Anyway, I know I owe you guys last month's hit listers. I'd probably get the time to take the pictures this weekend so the post will most probably be up next week. I'll try my best to do it. Also, my blog post drafts are piling up so I'll make sure to check that out and see the stuff I missed out on posting.

I used a white polish from Bobbie, a shimmery black polish also from Bobbie, OMG in Salsa for that strong red color, and OMG Citrine for the sand polish. I replaced the color of the nail of my ring finger with Etude House's Strawberry Milk so that the glitter polish would show more.

I've been looking for hologram? holographic? foils since I saw them on Kstyle. Fortunately, I was able to see some in the recent Noel Bazaar in WTC.  I only bought 2 rolls though. I should have bought more. I probably wasn't in my right mind.

They are actually pretty easy to use. Just make sure that your base color is all dried up because you don't want it to be sticky and mess up your foil design. Dab on some nail glue (a plain polish works just as well, at least based on my attempt). It can be as random as you would like or it could be neat so that the design would show well.

Here's what happened with my first attempt. ^^ I glued on some nail gems to form the famous Mickey head. I got this nail gem wheel from Trinoma by the way.

I topped the black polish with Caress' Christmas Polka...

Then I drew on an attempt on Mickey's pants? shorts? on the red nail...

Okay, this has got to be my favorite nail. It could be because I was so stoked to find one of the shades of the limited edition Disney's Mickey and Minnie Mouse x Etude House polishes. I found this at the bazaar too. ^^ I was so happy because according to some sites I've read, this was only released in Korea.

And this is what happens to the nails of a Mickey Mouse fan. ^^

Hope you find this attempt on nail art helpful, in any way. ^^ Cheerio!

I Nailed It #19: Marbly Marble

Hi! Just another quick nail art before getting to bed. ^^

A couple of weeks ago, I watched Lee Hong Ki of FT Island do a few nail art styles on an episode of Get It Beauty. I think he totally loves the whole nail art thing since he even published a book about it and he totally rocks the designs he does. Anyway, I saw him do a marble kind of nail art and decided to try it out.

Here are the polishes I used (L-R): OMG in Mojito, Girl Stuff in Avo Loco, OMG in Strobe, OMG in Gossip, Sassy in Blue?, Etude House Look at My Nails in Strawberry Milk

I put on a coat of Strawberry Milk, then blob a few drops of each color. Lee Hong Ki advised to use only a few drops of the dark color since it's harder to blend (or marble). Let it dry and put on your favorite top coat. (Mine is Strobe ^^)

I call it a hot mess...^^ I actually like this kind of nail art because even if it chips, it doesn't show much since the base coat is almost transparent. I'd probably try marbling other colors but I love this combination. It's so...mermaid-ish.

Anyways. Have a great weekend. ^^ Cheerio!

I Nailed It #15: Red Cuppies

Hi. This will just be a short nail art entry. I'm actually craving for cupcakes as of the moment hence the design. ^^

What I used: Etude House Look at My Nails in Strawberry Milk, OMG in Matte Potion, and OMG in Salsa

I put on two coats of Salsa on my nails, Strawberry Milk for the cupcake icing and cup stripes and the exclamation marks. I just thought the exclamation marks work as accents. I put on a coat of Matte Potion as a top coat. It's not as matte it should be because the really matte effect shows when I put on 2-3 coats. ^^

Now, I really am hungry. Enjoy the rest of your day! Cheerio!

I Nailed It #14: Lemonade

Hello! When I need a break from just everything, I take out my nail polishes and just make a mess on my nails. ^^ But it also helps when I see awesome inspirations on the Internet, kinda like this one from one of my most favorite beauty sites ever, The Beauty Department. From my sea-green and blue ombre hair to my nail art attempts, The Beauty Department was part of just everything.

This is their most recent Mani Monday entry and it just looked so cool so I decided to try it out. Fair warning okay? Mine is obviously not as neat and pretty. ^^

thebeautydepartment.com

I think my lemons need a little more love.

Anyhoo, here's the stuff I used: Sassy Colors in Jungle Green, Twinkle in Mocha Malt, Klik in Regular White, OMG in Mojito, and OMG in Strobe for the top coat. I absolutely love Strobe. It just gives the nails a really cool reflective effect.

Enjoy your week! Cheerio!

I Nailed It #13: Cath Kidston-Inspired Nails

Hey! I was never known for my art skills. No, scratch that. I'm known for my bad art skills. But my sister seems to trust me when it comes to doing her nails. She even requests for incredibly tough designs like the minions from Despicable Me and this time, a Cath Kidston inspired design. Of course, they come as abstract designs. ^^

Don't laugh! ^^ I told you I rock at abstract designs. ^^

What I used: For the base, Etude House Look at My Nails in Strawberry Milk (Far right), OMG in Mojito for the big petals (2nd bottle from left), OMG in Gossip (Far left) for the small petals, OMG in Banana Boat (not in picture but it's a pastel yellow polish) for the dots and short lines, OMG in Salsa for the petal accents, and Girl Stuff in Avo Loco for the leaves.

I used OMG's Strobe (Far left) as the top coat for a very cool effect. ^^

EXTRA! My mom's toenails. ^^ When she saw what I did to my sister's nails, she requested for the same design. ^^ But her base is Caronia's 24K.

I'm in need of designing practice. ^^ Cheerio!

I Nailed It #10: Good Morning Mickey!

Hi! Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. ^^ Just a quick entry here on the nail art I attempted to do last night. Unfortunately, the clear polish developed bubbles and I sorta dug on some parts of the polish while sleeping so it's not as clean as I wanted it to be. But, I'm hoping that I could fix it later today.

Mickey Mouse has always been my favorite cartoon character. I used to have tapes of recorded Mickey Mouse shows--those classic ones with the whole Disney gang like Donald Duck, Pluto, Goofy and others.

So, I attempted to do a Mickey Mouse inspired nail art. (Forgive me for "painting outside the lines." I was never good in art class. Haha)

Here are the products I used: Klik Polish in White, OMG in Salsa, Klik in Black, and Caress in Clear. I also used the first two small dotting tools from my set.

I'd probably experiment on more Disney-inspired designs and if they come out well, I'd post 'em here. And if they don't, I'd still probably post them too as attempts on nail art. ^^

Have a great Sunday! Cheerio!

I Nailed It #9: Red and Glitters

Hi! Happy Independence Day, if there is such a greeting.

Because today is a free day, I decided to play with my nail polishes. Free days like today is the only time I can properly put on nail colors because it can dry well, unlike when I put it on at night and wake up with messed up nails. ^^

I wanted to paint my nails with a patriotic design but ended doing my favorite gradiated red nails. But this time, I decided to coat my nails with clear polish with gold glitters.

I used: Sassy Colors in Neon Red, Jocarste in A61, and Twinkle in Glitter Gold. My nails don't look patriotic but they do carry some shades of the Philippine flag.

I put on a coat of the bubblegum peach color, did a layer of gradiation with the red color, then topped my nails with the glitter polish. Never mind if it'd be hard to remove. ^^

Cheerio!

I Nailed It #7: Jocarste Nail Polish in A61

Howdy! It seems like the rainy season is peeking in. ^^ Make sure to gear up.^^

Lately, as much as possible, I try not to indulge in buying nail polishes because aside from the top coat, reds, and neutral-colored polishes, I can't seem to empty polishes out before they dry up.

I always see the Jocarste polishes whenever I'm in the beauty section of SM or Trinoma. I never really took the time to try them out until I saw this color. Jocarste actually has a lot of shades that I'd love to try. (Too bad the back information doesn't make any sense ^^)

The shade is called A61. The camera can't really show the color well but off-cam, it looks like a bubblegum peach shade, which anyone can rock. The color makes your nails look like they're freshly manicured even if they're not. I find myself reaching for this shade very often.

Each bottle costs 39.00. I love its gel finish but I wish it didn't smell too much like paint. This looks good as a base for a royal blue tipped-nails. ^^

You can find the Jocarste nail polishes in the Shawill makeup area.

What nail color are you wearing today? Lemme know. Cheerio!

I Nailed It #6: Bobbie Cocktail Hour Gradation Nail Polish in Cool Blue Martini

Hi. Just a quick post here on what I wore on my nails last week. ^^

Since I learned how to maximize the use of cosmetic sponges by doing nail art, I've been doing gradated nails twice a week. I constantly swap colors because my polish easily chips. And although I enjoy doing my own combinations, I was hoping to own a gradation set that's foolproof.

Etude House was the first one I saw that released a nail gradation set which retailed for around 300 bucks. Since I wasn't ready to cough up that much cash on nail polishes, I was always on the search for a good yet affordable set. That's when I saw Bobbie's Cocktail Hour Gradation Nail Polish. When I saw this in Trinoma, there were only two colors left, this Blue Martini one and a pink one. Apparently, there was also a green one. This is a limited edition set, by the way.

Each box has three 4 ml bottles, which are pretty small and reminiscent of the Mwah polishes I used to own. Each box costs 79.00

The bottles are numbered and labeled as Shaker 1, Twist 2, and Garnish 3. Let me tell you though that I found the directions at the back a little off so this is my own way of doing the gradated nails.

So, first off, apply the Twist 1 all over your nails. Twist 1 is a frosted light blue polish.

After the first layer dries up, coat the top half of your nails with Shaker 2, which is a frosted sky blue color with glitter chunks.

Finally, apply Garnish 3 (a clear polish with chunky royal blue glitters) on the tip, kinda like doing some sort of a rustic french tip. ^^

After all the layers dry up, put on some of your favorite top coat.

Well, what can I say? This is a life-saver for nail art addicts like me. It's actually great that a local brand like Bobbie is coming up with awesome sets like this. I think they also have the magnetic polish set which I've yet to try. But, just like any other glitter polishes, removing this is painful. ^^ I read somewhere though that you can soak your nails in some nail polish remover but that would mean emptying out a bottle of nail polish remover, which is not allowed here at home. *haha*

Anyway, if you want to wear some party bling on your nails, grab a box of this Bobbie Gradation Nail set while you can!

Cheerio!

I Nailed It #4: LA Colors Color Craze in Transformer

Hi guys. Sorry for missing out on a couple of days. I'm in the middle of switching jobs, so a lot of things are needed, and they've been taking most of my time.

Anyways. Here's my new red polish. I just wanted to share this with you because the color looks so exquisite and expensive. I love red nail polish more than anything because I like the way it looks on my nails. I have a couple of red shades in tow and this is a new color.

I've seen this line of nail polish from LA Colors before. Their container reminds me of O.P.I.'s bottle, which is worth a few more bucks. Transformer is sort of a wine red color which looks like a deeper red when put on. A good two coats will give you a shade closest to the color in the bottle. I don't know how to describe the finish, but it's definitely not matte nor is it shimmery. The brush is also a little wider than most nail polishes I've used which made application easier.

This is my first LA Colors nail polish, and definitely not my last. Each bottle costs 89.00

Have a great weekend! Cheerio!
